In partnership with Colorado Mountain College, Jaywalker U provides a safe and structured portal for sober students to fully reintegrate into a college life based on the principles of recovery. Full-time, on campus learning, a dedicated staff trained in optimizing the recovery and education experience and a state-of-the-art residential student center situated in the middle of the Jaywalker continuum of care in downtown Carbondale, CO, all play a fundamental role in the student experience of success in sobriety. We believe that educational success early in recovery helps reinforce sobriety and recovery principles. At Jaywalker U, the closer you look, the better we look.
Founded in 2012 as a part of the continuum of care at Jaywalker Lodge, Jaywalker U was a clear and obvious step for us in Carbondale, CO. As we watched alumni of our treatment programs not only stay in the area to live, but enroll at CMC and become some of their best students, we realized that making that path more clear should be a priority for our alumni program. An issue on every college campus in America, drug and alcohol abuse is the leading cause of dis-enrollment in college. As a partner with CMC, Jaywalker has become the go-to resource on campus for issues relating to abuse and addiction while CMC has cleared the path for our students enrolling despite transcripts and a history that would preclude them from enrolling at some other schools. We have found that, given a chance, to be a student and sober, these men have not only cleaned up transcripts from previous attempts at school, but excelled and become stellar students.
